Hjól Keramikk, Handmade Ceramics Webshop

Built a bespoke bilingual webshop for ceramicist Kristina Hjohlman Reed's brand Hjól Keramikk: a tailored store and admin with Vipps checkout and automated order emails, instead of a fee-heavy template platform.

Overview

Hjól Keramikk is the studio brand of ceramicist Kristina Hjohlman Reed, who needed a simple way to sell her handmade pieces online. Rather than put her on Shopify (a monthly fee plus a percentage of every sale, and a generic admin full of buttons she'd never use), I built a custom webshop tailored to how she actually works. It ships with a clean, professional storefront in her own visual identity (logo and palette), an admin panel built only around her needs, automated customer emails (order confirmation, "your parcel is on its way"), Norwegian and English, and straightforward order handling. Payment runs through Vipps directly, so no middleman takes a cut, while the cart still keeps a real store feel. Because it's custom, it can keep growing: new payment methods and features added as the shop grows.

Challenge

A working ceramicist wanted to sell handmade pieces online without losing margin to platform fees or wrestling with a generic store builder, but still wanted something that looked and felt professional.

Approach

A bespoke webshop instead of an off-the-shelf platform: a storefront in her own brand, an admin trimmed to exactly her workflow, automated order and shipping emails, bilingual NO/EN, and Vipps as the direct payment method, with no per-sale platform percentage. Built to extend later with new features and payment options.

Outcome

Hjól Keramikk has its own professional, low-overhead shop: Kristina sells directly to customers with Vipps, keeps full margin, and manages orders through an admin built around her, on a foundation that can grow alongside the brand.
